The Edge

The Edge

I dare not go past that edge.
Some have gone there to be lost.
Once they pass, a dark loneliness takes them.

That path only leads to shame and doubt.
They have no hope to fight the pain.

Unaware, I can draw close to the precipice.
My friends warn me for I don’t see the danger.

Ones who care have built a path to safety.
Their love has given me a lamp to carry.

I hold that light to show others safe passage.
Hope has returned where fear once reigned.
