Fear and Peace

The mysterious wilderness filled me with fear.
I don’t know the source of my anxiety.
I’ve often walked the perimeter for sport.

I saw dense brush and heard calling birds.
I felt as if I was near the edge of the city.
The wild sounds of both are uncontrollable.
Their droning slips into my subconscious.
I am unable to find my peace of mind.

One day a friend found a path for me.
His confidence cleared my fear.
We don’t know where it leads.
As we walked, I felt as if at home.
I was safe because we were together.
