The Game

The game started in the morning.
After a few hours, I dropped the ball.
While I was full of sorrow for the slip,
I regained my footing in my life outside.

As the day wore on, their anger faded.
I am able to move on with my life.
While I’ve left some friends behind,
my spirit’s outlook remains calm.

I’ll be climbing a wall of stone soon.
I cannot know whether I will fail.
The challenge fills my heart with fear.
I have never felt this terror before.

Perhaps the faults from yesterday’s game
will defeat me in this quest as well.
How do I continue to rebuild my spirit?
To start, I watch my losses fade away.

I will pray for a new start.
The promises fill me with great hope.
I am willing to wait for an answer today.
I know the pain I feel today is not my destiny.
