My Truth

As the night began to fall
I watched the stars start to rise.
Their faint light calms my spirit.

In my heart I know the truth.
The life I could have is clear.
However, my mind is too bent.
Perhaps I can straighten my thoughts
if I open up to receive more light.

My words and deeds often fail to match.
To me, what matters is the chance to change.

I see how life may seem difficult today.
Yet, this world is not as it seems.

I have assurance I can heal this ailing mind.
I do not despair for I have faith in my Lord.
