A Cold Spirit

The air around me is full of ice.
I grow smaller as I shiver today.
My honesty is my only hope.

We are in the world together.
Days come and go and I see you grow.
In the mist of my eyes, I weep.

I cannot find a way to share my smile.
I talk so that I can begin to find the truth.
Although I feel lost, I still have hope.

The people I find around me see my dark walls.
I can reveal a window only to the people I love.
Why can’t I find the ability to leap out?

My energy is wasted in sorrow.
I lose the ability to breathe in peace.
I see the light, but it is so distant today.
I am waiting patiently for a change.
