Serene Words

The silent book was puzzling to me.
It spoke in a voice I did not recognize.

I had been walking toward the horizon.

The weeks that I lacked sleep are fading.
I tried to rest but I could not find sleep.
I felt like a ridiculous failure.

The books that I own are not mysterious.
Their words of peace restore my sanity.
I am home now and becoming more serene.
Will you help me smile again?
