Very Long Ago

Point Imperial, North Rim, Grand Canyon National Park (12)
The years flow into centuries.
The centuries turn into millennia.
Ancient millennia fill with change.

I’ve wondered what it would be like
to live long ago—in the beginning.
Is there a day before confusion reigned?

I feel certain that other problems
would replace those that I see today.
No utopia can last for long.

My plan for today
is to walk a straight path.
I can find hope in small things.
