Turning

We turned the situation around in our heads.
We found a way for common ground.
Together we fixed our argument.
I forgot all our angry words.

Our families do not understand.
They want us to walk apart.
They hate the love we share.
Their prayers have become our nightmare.

We still don’t have a plan.
The love gods are laughing at us.
My friend likes to see me smile.
I am glad for a fearless laugh.

The days we spend with each other
are worth the difficult times.
As I pray for our life with each other,
I find that the hope for us grows and grows.
