The Square

I move through the town square again.
I’m walking to a friend’s house.
I will get some exercise on the way.

Today has been really pleasant.
I cross the street with care.
Traffic is polite in town today.

I still wait for the proper hour.
My goal is to find a new path.
I hope to start it this evening.

I feel the impulse to run.
I want a life without pain.
My hopeful words don’t stop it.

As time passed, my life has changed.
I cross the street with love and hope.
Are my feelings being stretched too far?
