Darkest Clouds

Does the sun ever shine through the darkest clouds?
Does a wisp of light ever brighten the deepest dungeon?
I wonder if I know how to be a friend.

Alone, I am wandering through a desert.
I have left the comfortable oasis behind.
I walk in an unknown world of heat and sand.

It’s peculiar how images of darkness fill my mind.
I know that my soul is full of conflict with itself.
I pray for the walls to leave me.

Days later, I have found a new oasis.
I am not beneath dark clouds any more.
I have left the dungeon behind.
In this new home, I am finding friends.
They are people I trust and respect.
