Early Steps

first baby steps
How does an infant learn to walk?
The first faltering steps are a turning point.
After a fall, determination replaces failure.

Once the steps are strong,
something new is presented every day.
A growing mind can encompass it all.

The days turn into months turn into decades.
As progress continues, one question follows another.
A good instructor can show a new way to see the world.

Sometimes the lessons are forgotten,
but the teachings are kept fresh.
The fortunate child evolves into a teacher.

Some goals are very distant,
but as days follow days,
even those goals can be reached.
