Night Will Come

FootstepsBecause the “whys” are old,
I see that reason has no power.
What’s in my face today, I hate.
Everyday, I only see clouds.

When the sun is shining.
I hide from the stifling heat.
Light surrounds me as I sleep

Today I am walking alone.
I take my steps on a path of mud.

Soon the night will come.

Where do my steps lead today?
I climb the stair slowly.

Every word that she said that day
reverberates in my soul.
I regret the love I broke.

A tree is standing tall.
I watch its leaves in the wind.
What can I see today?
I am sorry I failed you again.
