A Shadow

Girl in shadows
While the sun was shining,
I stumbled into a zone of darkness.
My spirit sank and I filled with sorrow.

My friends don’t see my pain.
How can I let them know?

Words are not like actions anymore.
They can break a friendship.
They can hurt.

I am grateful I left that shadow.
Those harsh words came and went.

Now I am careful with my tongue.
I find love possible and I am hopeful.
In the sunlight again, my spirit grows strong.
