Pantry

A warmly colored kitchen

My pantry is full of boxes and cans.

I am no celebrated gourmet chef.
Sometimes I throw parties regardless.
People come over for a movie and a snack.
I try to have something to share.

What should I cook tonight?
I have so much to choose from
yet so little to choose.

Cheerful cooking sounds fill the kitchen.
I hear the boiling water.
The knife is chopping on and on.
The oven closes with a bang.

The leftovers will last a while.
I hate to let food go to waste.
