At the Tower

I have climbed the stairs of the tower.

Whenever I am here after work,
the setting sun lights the way.

When I reached the platform high above,
I could see the distant horizon.
Today, the sky had turned to flame.

The night sky has marvelous darting bats.
They get their fill of tiny insects.
Watching them cleanse the sky,
I realize that the day has been perfect.

I know that the sky is untamed.
When people are proud of their conquests,
I realize that the ways of men are not for me.

Soon, the moon will fill the sky
and I’ll leave the tower behind me.

At home, I can relish the memories again.
