The Sun

An image of an annular solar eclipse

Early in the misty morning,
the sun prepares for another day.
The waiting birds watch for the signal
as its burning light fills the sky.
The brilliant noon-day climax
leads to slow afternoons of rest.

When the sun finishes its work,
a curtain is drawn across the sky.
The moon peers through when it can.
Stars can be seen beyond the clouds.

While resting and hidden from view,
the sun prepares for the new day.
Following a tight schedule,
the daily routine will return soon.
